This May 17th marks what would have been Roc Raida’s 40th birthday. Unfortunately Raida isn’t here to rejoice with us but it doesn’t mean we can’t. Thus, I ask YOU, Raida’s fans, not to mourn his death on his birthday. Instead celebrate his life by supporting this project “Roc for Raida” is available Here.

The Black Opera: Black Superstar (prod. yU)
2012

The mysterious Black Opera release their latest track, recorded over a beat from yU’s “A Garbage Beat Tape.” Follow @TheBlackOpera, @yUthe78er, & @MelloMusicGroup on Twitter.
The Black Superstar has always been a paradox in American Culture. African-Americans, and many racialized ‘others’, have for a long time held this odd allure as naturally cool, while at the same time suffering the effects of a body that is instantly criminalized. This is a dangerous duality that can serve as simultaneous impetus and hindrance. This polarization drives an ill collaboration between yU and the mysterious outfit known as The Black Opera, hosted by Mello Music Group.

So much dope music coming out of the D lately. With a deadly beat and a dirty vocal sample from “Shook Ones pt. II,” Detroit’s House Shoes provides the groundwork for two of the best producers on the mic & one Madvillain alumni to tear down their verses. House Shoes has more of these bangers on the way on his upcoming album, “Let It Go”, available May 19th. Album features include Roc Marciano, Black Milk, Guilty Simpson & Danny Brown.
